Christopher D. Mayes

Superintendent of Beatrice Mayes Institute (BMI)

The passion for science, technology, engineering, and math has afforded Christopher Mayes the opportunity to work with one of the most intricate and complex projects in the world – the construction of the International Space Station. He worked for NASA as a certified level 3 engineer and flight controller for seven years. This same passion also allows him to play a role in the lives of the students at Beatrice Mayes Institute and Wonderland Private School. His goal is to develop competent and confident learners with the necessary skills and attitudes needed to succeed in life. He serves as the Superintendent for Beatrice Mayes Institute (BMI). BMI is a Wonderland, Inc. School which has been educating children since 1966. BMI is and has been a high performing charter school since transitioning into public education.

Christopher was born and raised in the historic Third Ward of Houston, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University, Advanced Degree in Applied Science from Southern Methodist University, and a Master of Divinity concentrating in Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Christopher Mayes is married to Isha Mayes, the father of two beautiful daughters, Bethany and Christian Mayes.
